The Literacy & Food Education (LEAF) Programme is about empowering communities to grow their own food as a vital climate action. It’s about sowing seeds of empathy and nurturing a culture of sustainable living, all while turning libraries into bustling hubs of food growing.

Seeds are available in 25 libraries across the south east.

LEAF Goals

  • Drive food Growing as an individual climate action within the community.
  • A Community growing initiative in every town/village/city/local authority area that has a library.

HOW LEAF WORKS

  • Support Community Capacity for Food Growing (understanding gaps, providing resources, connecting groups & activity for knowledge sharing).
  • Provide Resources & Information to Communities in Ireland to grow in a community setting.
  • Support Access to information for community food growing activity through the library network.
  • Connect & inform community groups – platform/newsletter/events.
