According to GIY founder Michael Kelly this is the most delicious squash. Cream colour with green stripes. It has a thinner skin than other squashes which contributes to its versatility (the skin can be left on, cooked and eaten) but does reduce the storage time. It will keep for a respectable 2 to 3 months, if you can resist eating it for that long.Â
Mid April until late May
Sow individual seeds into small pots (7 cm) or large modules and keep in a warm place. Pot on into a 10 cm pot when ready. Plant out in late May-June after hardening off. Initial protection with a cloche is beneficial.
