  • With Mother Nature waking up form her winter slumber, spring is very much in the air. The days are (finally) getting longer which makes the prospect of getting out into the garden all the more exciting.

This medium sized GROWBox is a selection of some of our favourite veg to be sown in early springtime.  We've tried to cram as much as we can into this GROWBox to get you started. We've also got a whole range of free resources here on the GIY website.

    What’s in the GROWBox?

This is a box full of possibility – imagine yourself tucking in to a meal with your own home-grown fresh veg, making it taste amazing? But before you get there, you’ve got to grow it.  This box contains:

    • Seed Packs x 4
      • Tomatoes
      • Chilli Pepper
      • Beetroot (Detroit Globe)
      • Lettuce (Little Gem)
    • 1 Pencil and notepad – always a good plan to jot down your sowing dates, progress and good intentions..
    • Plant Labels – no, you won’t remember what’s in each pot!  Always label them..
    • 8cm coir pots x 4 – for sowing some of your seeds in to
    • Compost Discs x 4 – one for each pot (they bulk out when you add water)
    • This little grow your own Guide (we’ve stuffed it with loads of stuff we’ve learned about growing)
  • Where to grow them:

    • You might have a 2 acre field, or a tiny apartment, a suburban back garden or allotment. Most veg benefit from being started off in a smaller pot or tray and then transplanted when they get a little bigger.  We recommend sowing the seeds on a windowsill inside your house or apartment to start. When the seedlings get a little bigger, we will be moving them in to bigger pots to grow them either inside or outside on your balcony, terrace, patio or veg patch.
