10:00-15:00 Sunday, 17th September 2017. Marie Power combined her love of food and nature about 12 years ago when she began to share her interest in, and knowledge of seaweed with people all along the coast from Cheekpoint to Whiting Bay. She left her job as a training & HR professional and published The Sea Garden- a guide to seaweed cookery and foraging. Interest in all things seaweed, and wild food in general was increasing and this led to the development of a range of healthy, seaweed-based snacks which she now makes for artisan shops and cafes. She leads foraging events all over Ireland and enjoys meeting people with a curiosity for wild foods and for the natural world. In this fascinating workshop, you will learn to use seaweed or sea vegetables in everyday savoury and sweet dishes with a cookery demo by Marie with lots of tastings and recipes to take home. Marie will discuss the health benefits of Irish seaweeds and give tips on foraging and identifying, gardening with seaweed for healthy soil and healthy plants and how to incorporate seaweed into your skincare regime as well as a cure for coughs! Includes a delicious HQ lunch.
