Turnip 'Purple Top Milan'
Purple Top Milan is a delicious and very reliable variety with purple tops and white skin. True turnips (not swedes) are small and quick growing. Pick once matured (about 8 - 10 weeks) and they won't need to be peeled. If you leave them any longer a light peeling before cooking is a good idea. Definitely worth growing if you've never tried them and they take very little time, energy or space. GIY grows these in veg trugs on the office balcony.Â
Sowing:
Sow small amounts every 3-4 weeks from late March until July. Sow 1 seed per cell in modular trays and plant out 4 to 5 weeks after sowing or sow direct into a well prepared seedbed.
Spacing:
Between rows: 25 cm
Between plants in the row: 10-15 cm
