At GIY we know that growing your own food is good for our human health. But how can you grow food in a way that is also good for our planet’s health?

In this short course we chat to Richard Mee, Head Grower at GROW HQ, to find out how you can grow food in ways that benefit the environment. Over 10 lessons he provides hints and tips about how to be a more environmentally conscious grower, from best practice methods for composting and fertilising, to managing your growing space to support biodiversity. You will also gain a deeper understanding of Richard’s favourite topic… soil.

During the course Richard grows 12 vegetables from the HOW FOOD GROWS GROWBox in a 6x2m plot, roughly the size of a parking space, to show how using certain growing methods and practices can help reduce carbon emissions by, according to research, approx. 1kg for every kilogram of veg grown compared to shop-bought vegetables.

Why not level up your growing skills and discover how you can grow plants for the good of our planet.
