Start before the end of April to grow your veg from seed. From May onward, you may need to use seedlings, which you can buy from your local garden centre. If you're starting the course in April/May, roll up your sleeves and take lessons 1, 2, and 3 all together!

Veg Featured: Tomatoes, chilli peppers, squash, courgette, peas, carrots, beetroot, lettuce, rocket and Oriental greens. A mix of the fast-growing quick wins and slow-growing but most rewarding veg, this selection is chosen for diversity and deliciousness. All 10 veg seeds are available with our Ultimate Starter GROWBox that comes with everything you need to get started (Ultimate Starter GROWBox is purchased separately)

*** Access to our online courses is tied to the email address used when purchasing. So if you’re buying this as a gift, please use the recipient’s email address at checkout.

  • Where: The course is designed for anyone with as little as 5 square metres of growing space. Mick will be growing all 10 veg in two locations at GROW HQ, the home of our TV series Grow Cook Eat. Both of these locations are designed to replicate typical household growing spaces. The TV Garden consists of 3 raised beds and a small greenhouse, while Container Corner is an outdoor deck where everything will be grown in pots and other containers.
  • What tools and things are needed? The course is designed to be as flexible as possible, allowing you to grow the 10 veg with little more than the 10 types of seeds, bags of compost and containers.

Essential items you will need are:

    - Seeds

    - Compost

-Small pots or module trays (included in Ultimate Starter GROWBox which you can purchase separately)

    - Sticks and string

    - Beds and/or containers

However, various tools and other things will certainly make your life easier, especially if you are growing in beds rather than containers. The standard set of garden tools - trowel, spade, fork, hoe and rake are all recommended. We will also discuss and use organic products for controlling pests and providing liquid feeds, but we will also show you how to make homemade versions. For harvesting and preserving we will use basic kitchen equipment.

  • The course is delivered in 10 steps over the course of the growing year, from preparing beds in Spring, to storing your veg for the winter months. Each step will be broken down into a few key parts to ensure that each phase is kept as simple and straightforward as possible. After signing up for the course, you will be invited to create an account where you will be able to access all the video lessons along with summary notes and key actions. During the first two lessons, we'll cover essential skills that will be repeated throughout the course.
