About Caitlin Ruth

Caitlin Ruth is an award-winning chef and long-time champion of seasonal Irish food. Originally from New Hampshire in the US, she has been part of Ireland’s food scene since the early 1990s and is now known for her creative, flavour-forward cooking and a serious love for pickles and preserves.

Best known for her time as head chef at Deasy’s near Clonakilty, Caitlin spent 16 years building a reputation for thoughtful, inventive dishes that celebrate local ingredients. These days, she runs Caitlin Ruth Food, a colourful food truck that brings restaurant-quality dishes to private events and festivals around the country.

Her cookbook Funky, part of the Blasta Book Series, is a celebration of pickling, preserving and all things brined, salty, sweet and sharp. It’s about adding flavour, fun and a bit of edge to your everyday cooking, and making the most out of what’s in season. Just like Caitlin’s cooking, the book is joyful, generous and just a little bit wild.
