Yoga at GROW HQ

Martina Avery teaches a Hatha and Vinyasa style of yoga here at GROW HQ. She has been practicing yoga for 16 years and completed her teacher training at Alphazone School of Yoga here in Waterford. She continues to attend workshops and training weekends to further enhance her teaching skills and knowledge of yoga.

Her classes are friendly and welcoming and she wants all her students to feel part of the class and the yoga community.  She encourages students to be present in their practice and understand that we are all different and unique, so not to compare ourselves with the person next to us.  Martina focuses on using your breath and body alignment in all of her classes so you can get the full benefit of each pose.  Her classes start with a meditative breath practice and finish with Shavasana which includes a relaxing Yoga Nidra. You will leave her class feeling relaxed, renewed and energised.

Benefits of Practicing Yoga

Practicing yoga on a regular basis will improve your posture, you will become stronger, leaner, toned and flexible, it can also contribute to weight loss and improve your balance. It will help towards reducing injuries from other sports and enhance your performance. Many sports persons have taken up yoga on a regular basis as part of their training. During yoga we do regular breath practice and consciously use our breath with movement, this helps improve our respiratory system, relax our nervous system and also gives us more energy.

Yoga helps create an inner calmness in the body. It can help to improve sleep, clear your mind and create positive thinking. Practiced regularly it is good for the mind and helps us to remind ourselves to live in the present moment.

Who is Yoga for?

Yoga is for everybody and it’s never too late to start! It’s good to try something new; it challenges the mind and the body. Of course, if you suffer from any medical condition, we would recommend consulting with your GP before attending class.

What do you need to bring and wear for yoga?

You will need to wear comfortable clothing i.e. tracksuit ends or leggings. Mats are provided, although if you have your own please bring one with you. Also it’s nice to bring water to have it to hand if you need it.
